Full Dentures vs. Partial Dentures — What’s the Difference?
Before choosing a denture type, it helps to understand which option fits your situation:
Full (Complete) Dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth — either the upper arch, the lower arch, or both. They rest on the gum tissue and are held in place by natural suction and, if needed, denture adhesive. Full dentures are recommended when all teeth in an arch are missing or need to be extracted.
Partial Dentures replace multiple missing teeth when some natural teeth remain. They attach to your remaining teeth using metal clasps or precision attachments, filling the gaps and preventing your remaining teeth from shifting out of position.
